Affective Learning
Affective learning involves the development of attitudes, emotions, and values through educational experiences. This type of learning focuses on how learners’ emotional responses and values are shaped and influenced, leading to changes in their behavior and decision-making processes. Affective learning is essential in environments where attitudes and ethical behavior are critical, such as in leadership, teamwork, and organizational culture.
While Bloom’s original taxonomy primarily addressed the cognitive domain, the affective domain was later introduced to categorize learning objectives related to emotions, attitudes, and values. The affective domain organizes levels of emotional and attitudinal development, ranging from basic awareness to internalization and consistent application of values.
The affective domain according to Benjamin Bloom includes: Receiving, Responding, Valuing, Organization, and Characterization.
