Affinity Bias
Affinity Bias refers to the unconscious tendency to favor people who are similar to oneself in terms of characteristics, background, experiences, or beliefs. This bias often manifests in the workplace and other group settings, where individuals might feel a natural connection or “affinity” toward others who share similar traits, such as gender, ethnicity, education, interests, or values. Affinity bias can lead to preferential treatment of those who are perceived as being like oneself, while potentially disadvantaging those who are different.
