The aim of LXD is to create engaging, effective learning environments that facilitate desired outcomes in a comfortable and enjoyable manner.

David Kolb first published his model in 1984. The original model had a four-stage learning cycle: active experimentation, concrete experience, reflective observation, and abstract conceptualization.
