Design

Design is the first “D” in the ADDIE instructional design model, which stands for Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. In instructional design, the Design phase is a critical process that involves planning, structuring, and organizing educational content, learning activities, and assessments in a way that aligns with and achieves the identified learning objectives.

This phase serves as the blueprint for the entire instructional development process, ensuring that all components of the learning experience are thoughtfully integrated to meet the needs of the learners and the goals of the organization.

Design includes defining learning objectives, selecting instructional strategies, sequencing and organizing content, designing activities and assessments, selecting media and delivery modalities, and developing the concept such as the prototype or conceptual map.

The Design phase is the foundation upon which successful instructional programs are built.
